Roman Silk carries more weight and a smoother surface, which is what keeps the straight pants hanging clean instead of tracking every movement of the leg. Cut the whole set in the lighter fabric, and it would look flimsy below the waist.

The kurti closes with buttons down the front placket. That's worth knowing, because it means the top isn't locked into one way of being worn — buttoned through, it reads as a structured ethnic kurti; left open over a plain camisole, it becomes a layer.
